This is a community project

Fair Lawn Apps is an independent project built and maintained by a Fair Lawn, NJ resident. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Borough of Fair Lawn, the Fair Lawn Recreation Department, the Maurice M. Pine Free Public Library, or any other municipal entity.

References to "Fair Lawn," facility names, and municipal services are for identification purposes only and do not imply any official relationship.

Data accuracy

All schedule, event, and status information displayed in Fair Lawn Apps is automatically gathered from publicly available sources, primarily fairlawn.org, the BCCLS library calendar, and other public pages. A full refresh runs twice a day, and the three feeds whose value decays fastest — local alerts, theater, and the Community Center schedule — are re-checked every hour.

Because this information is collected automatically:

• Schedules may be delayed, incomplete, or incorrect
• Changes made on source websites between refresh cycles will not appear immediately
• Formatting changes on source websites may temporarily break data collection
• Facility hours, event details, and availability should always be confirmed directly with the facility

If you spot something wrong, let us know and it will be looked into.

Not a replacement for official emergency services

The Alerts section of Fair Lawn Apps displays information about water advisories, snow emergencies, road closures, hydrant flushing, and mosquito spraying gathered from public notices. This is not a substitute for official emergency notifications.

• Always follow instructions from official Borough communications, local police, and emergency services
• Do not rely solely on Fair Lawn Apps for time-sensitive safety information
• Alerts may be out of date: they are re-checked hourly, not continuously
• For emergencies, call 911
• For Borough updates, visit fairlawn.org or sign up for official Borough notifications

This website does not send notifications. Web push has been removed, and no notification permission is requested.

Reports and photos you post in the My Fair Lawn app

The My Fair Lawn mobile app lets a signed-in resident report a piece of broken public infrastructure, confirm a neighbor’s report, mark one fixed, and attach one photo to a report. Reports and approved photos are shown to other residents, so the rules below apply to them. The Privacy Policy says what is stored and for how long; this section is about what you may post and what happens when something should not have been.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

My Fair Lawn is a neighborly space for the whole borough, and it stays that way only if everyone who posts keeps it that way. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. By signing in and posting a report or a photo, you agree to the rules in this section. Content that breaks them is removed, and an account that posts sexual, violent, hateful or harassing content, or that uses reports to target anyone, is blocked from posting again.

What a report is for

• Public infrastructure only: a pothole, a storm drain, a streetlight, a sidewalk, park equipment, flooding, a downed limb, at a place picked from a fixed list of Fair Lawn streets, parks and intersections
• Never private property, and never a person. A report cannot be attached to a house, and a photo must show the broken thing, not the people near it
• A report is a claim that the thing is broken at that place. Filing one about a place you have not seen, or filing the same thing over and over, is misuse

What you may not post

A photo, and the report it is attached to, must not contain:

• Sexual content of any kind, or nudity
• Violence, gore, or threats
• Content that harasses, demeans or targets a person or a group, including on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, disability or age
• Recognizable people, faces, license plates, or anything else that identifies a person or their home
• Anything illegal, anything that promotes illegal activity, or anything you do not have the right to share
• Advertising, spam, or anything that is not a real report of the place you picked

Every photo is reviewed before anyone sees it

No photo is shown to other residents until a person has looked at it and approved it. An automated check may turn down a photo that is plainly sexual or violent before a person sees it; nothing is ever approved without a person. A photo that breaks these rules is turned down and deleted. The report it was attached to stays if the report itself is legitimate. Reports are chosen from fixed lists — there is no free text anywhere in the feature — and a report that is plainly false or abusive can be removed.

How to report abuse

Every report card in the app has a Flag this report link. It opens an email to us with the report’s id already filled in; say what is wrong with it. You can also write to the address on the contact page. Flags are read and acted on promptly, normally within a day. A report or photo that breaks these rules is removed, and an abusive account is blocked.

Abusive accounts are blocked

An abusive account is blocked from filing reports, confirming other people’s, uploading photos, and saying it would play at a pickup game. Reading is unaffected: a blocked account can still use the app. A block survives deleting the account, for the reason the Privacy Policy gives. If you think your account was blocked in error, write to fairlawn@paragbaxi.com.

Where the law requires it

If a photo appears to show the sexual abuse of a child, it is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) requires, and preserved for as long as that law requires. Other illegal content may be reported to law enforcement.

Your content, and what you let us do with it

You keep whatever rights you have in a photo you post. By posting it, you give this project permission to store it, review it, and show it on the report to other residents for as long as the photo is kept: photos are deleted 90 days after upload, and a turned-down photo is deleted at once. You confirm that you took the photo, or otherwise have the right to share it.

Who may post

You must be at least 13 to sign in and post. The app is not directed at children under 13.

No warranty

Fair Lawn Apps is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties, express or implied. There is no guarantee that:

• The apps will be available at all times
• Information displayed will be accurate, complete, or current
• The service will be free from errors or interruptions

This is a free community project maintained in spare time. Downtime, bugs, and data gaps happen. The goal is to be as helpful and reliable as possible, but no promises are made.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the maintainer of Fair Lawn Apps is not liable for any damages arising from the use of or inability to use this service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages resulting from:

• Inaccurate or outdated information
• Reliance on information displayed in the apps
• Service interruptions or data loss

Accessibility

Fair Lawn Apps is built with accessibility in mind. All apps aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, including proper heading structure, keyboard navigation, screen reader support, and sufficient color contrast in both light and dark modes.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please report it. Accessibility issues are treated as high priority.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of Fair Lawn Apps after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
